David Julian

Dave Julian is a photographer, photo-illustrator and educator with a passion for exploring intersections of art, psychology and science. His work and stories have appeared in publications including Nikon World, Outside, Geo, Islands, Conde Nast Traveller, Audubon, Orion, Outdoor Photographer, AfterCapture, Rangefinder, Digital Photo Pro, Rangefinder, Shots, Archive and in several books on the arts.After designing and art directing for Warner Bros Music and HBO, he turned to photography covering tropical deforestation stories for magazines, NGOs and stock image libraries. He discovered his passion for teaching in 2001, which has led to teaching creative workshops at sea and on land with Maine Media Workshops, Santa Fe Workshops, Anderson Ranch Arts Center, Photographic Center Northwest, Bald Head Island Institute, BlackRapid, Un-Cruise and others. Dave is currently adjunct faculty in photography at the University of Washington and Seattle Creative Academy, shoots for Corbis and mentors photographers in the craft of creative image making.
