Jorge Gavilondo

Jorge Victor Gavilondo was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1949. He moved back to Havana with his Cuban parents in 1950 and has lived there ever since. He trained in science and has a PhD in Experimental Oncology. He started working as a freelance photographer 13 years ago.

He is a member of the Cuban Association of Social Communicators, and the Cuban Fund for the Photographic Image. He actively collaborates with the Fototeca de Cuba, and teaches Digital Photography in national and international courses held in Havana and elsewhere. He has been involved as a teaching assistant and local coordinator for the Cuba programs of the Santa Fe (NM) Photographic Workshops school since 2012.
